Drugs

Drug exchange can be one of the leading causes of HIV/AIDs, especially in poor African American communities

Needle exchange can/is one of the leading causes of the exposure and contraction of HIV/AIDS. When needles are exchange from person to person and they are not clean, then they can spread diseases. Most times they are spread through drugs, like crack, heroine, etc; but they are also be spread within unclean tattoo needles. Knowing that someone cleans their tools before they are put on or into your body important.

Lryics from Wu-Tang Clan song; America

"I know this dope-fiend cat, word up, his name is Javier
Part-time shooter sharing needles in the stairs
Wise guys disguised as a fly guy, you getting high right?
Weeded up with red shit in your right eye
You's a menace, your brain cells finished
Begging forgiveness, calling that up top shit syphillis
You know what you was gettin into
Try to guess on what I've been through
Fuck shorty raw then she scared you
AIDS kills, word up respect this, yo
Coming from the Wu, it's real
AIDS kills, word up respect this, yo
Coming from my crew, it's real"

Many rappers from older generations have talked about the epidemic of needle exchange. At one point, drugs were so prevalent, and everyone was doing it, that was the easiest way to contract the virus.

Lyrics from 50 Cent song, Baltimore Love Thing

"And we'll be hand in hand when you walk through those pearly gates
And I see to that, I'mma do whatever it takes"

50 Cent alludes to how heroin use can and will eventually kill the addict, and that is often through contraction of AIDS from sharing needles
